Itinerary: Francigena
San Miniato – Siena: 5 days (or less, depending on the time dedicated to the cities).
The Francigena Way is part of a group of roads that in the Middle Ages led from Western Europe to Rome and up to Puglia, where pilgrims and crusaders could reach the harbours to leave for the Holy Land.
For those who love trekking and who would like to join this route, it will be possible to walk the way going from San Miniato to Siena, in 4-5 days.

San Miniato
Once you have arrived in San Miniato by car or by train, leave for the first stage towards Gambassi Terme and enjoy the magnificent views over the Chianti vineyards.
San Gimignano

For this second stage, we suggest that you stop for a day in the small village of San Gimignano, typical for its medieval towers and shops.

Monteriggioni
The longest stage of this itinerary that will lead you to Monteriggioni. We suggest a visit to San Salvatore church at Abbadia Isola.
Siena

The last stage will take you to Siena, one of the most beautiful medieval cities in Italy. Piazza del Campo is the main public space of its historic center. The Palazzo Rosso and its Torre del Mangia dominate the square. Other places to visit are the Piazza del Duomo and the Museo Civico.
