Itinerary: Monte Morello
Departure: Rifugio Gualdo
Following stages: Poggio all’Aia – Poggio Cornacchiaccia – Poggio Casaccia
This fascinating itinerary will let you discover many naturalistic views and reach the three peaks of Monte Morello: Poggio Cornacchiaccia (892m), Poggio Casaccia (921m) and the highest summit, Poggio all’Aia (934m). This route is quite tiring and requires a good physical preparation since it alternates clearings, spruce woods and upward paths.

Rifugio Gualdo
For this itinerary, you can start from Rifugio Gualdo, a small church at the slopes of Monte Morello, transformed into a shelter and a meeting point in the sixties.
Poggio all’Aia

From here, you will continue on the dirt road up to the crossroads located at the Fonte del Ciliegio; follow the CAI path n. 10 and in little time you will start going up crossing conifer woods that will bring you to Poggio all’Aia. Here you are on the highest summit, recognizable thanks to a big cross.

Poggio cornacchiaccia
You have to follow the directions for the CAI path n. 00; go down towards the Valico della Selletta and here starts another quite demanding upward trail to reach the second peak, Poggio Cornacchiaccia.
Poggio casaccia

By following this path, you will rapidly reach the last peak, Poggio Casaccia, where stands a big iron cross.
From Poggio Casaccia, go through the wood that will take you to Sella delle Colline, where you will meet the Cippo dei Caduti, a memorial for the 11 partisans dead in a conflict with the Nazi troops in 1944. Follow the directions for the CAI path n. 11 and you will reach the Panoramica dei Colli Alti, from which you can easily go back to the starting point, Rifugio Gualdo.
