The Via degli Dei (The Road of Gods) is a 130 km long trekking route starting from Bologna and ending in Florence; a path rich of history, crossed by the Etruscan and also during Middle Ages. The name comes from the mountains that it traverses : Monte Adone, Monte Venere, Monzuno (Monte di Giove), and Monte Luario.
This path is not too demanding; however it requires a good preparation and it is accessible both on foot or by bike. The entire path takes from 4 to 6 days.

San Piero a Sieve
For those who would like to try only a part of this itinerary, we suggest the last stage: the route starting from San Piero a Sieve that goes until Florence. To reach San Piero a Sieve, you just have to take a train from Santa Maria Novella station that will carry you there in about half an hour.
Fortezza Medicea di San Martino

Starting from the city centre of this little town based in the Mugello area, you have to follow the directions CAI Bo-Fi. It will be possible to make a deviation to visit the Fortezza Medicea di San Martino (Medici fortress), located on a hill dominating San Piero a Sieve and a part of the Mugello area.
3
Località Ischieti
Follow the directions and reach a crossing (Loc. Ischieti) where a dirt road will take you to Trebbio. From here you can admire a wonderful view over a multitude of olive trees. If possible, we suggest a visit to the Trebbio Castle.
Tagliaferro

If you go on walking between olive trees and tabernacles, you will reach Tagliaferro. Go ahead and at the first crossing CAI 00 and CAI 00-60 follow the first route.

Convento Monte Senario
During your way, you will be able to admire the Badia del Buonsollazzo and the monastery of Montesenario. Once you have arrived at a location called Olmo, the itinerary is almost finished. From here you can admire Fiesole and Florence from a distance. We suggest that you go up to Poggio Pratone where you a have a breath-taking view of Florence.
Fiesole / Settignano / Firenze

Once you have arrived at the main square in Fiesole, you can decide whether to reach Florence by bus or to go on walking by passing through Monte Ceceri, Maiano caves, Settignano, and going down to Florence through Coverciano.
